As an expert witness, her honesty and credibility are particularly important to the jury. Thus, making a false report to police would be a serious ethical lapse for such an important witness. 

After finishing her internship and residency in pediatrics at the University of Michigan in 2000, Dr. Mohr took a position as an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Florida in Gainesville Florida[1]. While there, she appears to have had a very bad driving record[2].

She had accumulated 12 points within 12 months on her license, which according to the Florida DMV website should result in a 30 days suspension of her driver’s license[3] (she should have received at least 3 points for each speeding ticket and 4 points for not stopping at a stop sign, which seems like it should have resulted in a 3 month suspension but that is not listed in her record. She was still driving on a Michigan license).
Then on July 17, 2002 she received a citation for “False information regarding accident”[4]. She appears not to have contested the charge but entered into a deal to defer prosecution[5]. She successfully completed 4 months on the deferred prosecution agreement and made a donation of $150 to the state’s “Project Payback” program. As a result the deferred prosecution was dismissed. 

This was not a youthful indiscretion as Dr. Mohr was 31 years of age at the time of her accident report. Many of us have gotten a speeding ticket or two but few of us have ever been charged with falsifying an accident report. For defendants who face many years in prison based upon her testimony, this does not instill confidence in her character.
