Former University of Michigan football player and current Tennessee Titan told Ann Arbor Detectives Monroe and Fitzpatrick that the University “re-did the rules this year [regarding sexual assault and harassment] and re-brought up everything”. He was referring to reports that he had threatened to rape the victim if she pressed sexual assault charges against his friend, placekicker Brendan Gibbons [1] ,[2].
The University re-opened the sexual assault case against Brendan Gibbons last fall and he was found responsible. As a result he was expelled from the graduate program in social work and could not play in the final football game against Ohio State or in the University’s bowl game.
Taylor Lewan’s statements to the police detective’s indicate that he was also investigated; however, there is no indication as to whether or not the University found him responsible.
